ISS Research Oh Yeah! Protein Bars
Protein, protein, protein. As a strength athlete, or other hard training athlete, it is all you hear. You need protein to build muscle. The messenger proteins in the body trigger the hormones that help build strength and endurance. The blood is loaded with protein. So, where is all this protein supposed to come from? The foods we eat, of course. However, sometimes it is hard to eat enough high quality protein in a day to support the body’s needs. That is where protein bars come in. One of those bars is the ISS Research Oh Yeah! Protein Bar.

ISS Research Oh Yeah! Protein Bars Review
ISS Research Oh Yeah! Protein Bars come in two different sizes; the 45 gram Good Grab! size or the original 85 gram size. The Good Grab! bar comes in four flavors; Almond Fudge Brownie, Chocolate and Caramel, Peanut Butter and Caramel, and Vanilla Toffee Fudge. The nutrient and calorie content of these four bars is pretty much the same with 190 calories, 8 or 9 grams of fat, 16 to 18 grams of carbohydrates (only 4 to 5 grams of sugar), and 14 to 17 grams of protein. The 85 gram size comes in two additional flavors; Creamy Vanilla and Caramel and Peanut Butter and Strawberry. These bars contain between 350 and 380 calories, 13 to 19 grams of fat, 27 to 33 grams of carbohydrates (with 8 to 11 grams of sugar), and 27 to 30 grams of protein. None of the bars contain any trans fat. The sugar content is offset by glycerine, maltitol, and sucralose.
The smaller bar offers a good option for the person on a reduction diet or cutting cycle. The higher calorie bar offers some quality protein with low sugar content. The flavor of the bar is good, making it easy to get in the necessary protein throughout the day. These make great snacks between meals, or even as a meal replacement in a pinch. Due to the low overall vitamin and mineral content they should not be used as a meal replacement on a regular basis.
These bars offer a tasty protein choice. They have a moderate fat content, average carbohydrate level, and solid protein content. The overall caloric content, and taste, of the Oh Yeah! bar can become a problem if too many are consumed in a day. At 380 calories they can quickly add up, without you even knowing it.

- Calorie Content: B+
- Cost: B
Overall, this is a great tasting protein bar, but the higher caloric level of the 85 gram bar can be problematic if you get hooked. The price of the larger bar is okay if you are using it once in a while but can add up if you eat multiple bars per day. Give it a try, but remember, it is a protein bar not a candy bar.
